Meet the Team at Setting the Barre

Samantha Lee

Samantha is a lifelong dancer, she holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in dance theatre from Emerson College.  For the last 13 years she has been teaching and directing exclusively at Setting the Barre Dance Academy. In her dance career, she has performed in around the country and has had the pleasure of working with choreographers such as Sean Curran, Marlena Yannetti, Daniel McCusker, Janet Craft, Tommy Neblett and her beloved ballet master the late David “Mr D” Drummond.

Samantha has also directed shows in and around the Boston area including “Last Night…” a contemporary modern dance show using aerial dance, and choreographed a music video for Koch records hip hop artist C-Luk.  Samantha also regularly participates in dance teaching conventions across the nation to expand her repertoire and increase her dance technique (a dancers work is never done) and has studied and worked with notable choreographers Joe Tremaine, Greg Russell, Geo Hubela, Ray Leeper, Denise Wall, Travis Wall, Avi Miller and Ofer Ben, Margarita De Sa and Stacie Tookey.  Her passion for teaching is now the center of her career and she regularly choreographs both performance and competition dances for various shows and expositions, In the competitive dance world her students have been awarded top honors, special awards and overall high scores.  Sam is  certified Progressing Ballet Technique instructor and is currently completing her Flex certification as well.  Outside of the dance world, Sam has 2 crazy dogs (Limoncello and Dolly Parton) and loves to travel. 

 

 

Monique Dorian

Monique Dorian has been dancing and performing for over 20 years, and teaching since 2001. She studied dance, training in modern, jazz, hip hop, Latin/Ballroom, salsa, ballet, and lyrical techniques, at UMASS-Amherst where she attended master classes by Paul Taylor, Parsons Dance, Mark Morris, The Martha Graham Company, and more.

Monique taught Lyrical, Contemporary and Jazz at the Studio in Brookline for 11 years and she was invited to teach for Boston Ballet at the summer program as a Ballroom instructor.

Monique has studied with U.S. Latin/Ballroom champions and renowned coaches Jose DeCamps, Diana MacDonald, Marianne Nicole, Edward Simon, and Chris Johnston. She continues to study in the Boston area and attends annual teacher training conventions with Tremine Dance. Monique has performed with troupes including WIC, Tracy Varga, Harper Piver, Hips on Fire, and The Russell Jackson Formation Team. She is a former Amateur Open Gold Competitor and has placed in several National Dance Council of America Championship Finals in the United States.

Lindsay Caddle LaPointe

Lindsay Caddle LaPointe is a dancer, teacher, choreographer, videographer and video editor.  She received her bachelor of arts degree in Dance/Performance from Roger Williams University and her master’s degree in dance and technology from The Ohio State University’s department of dance.

Since 2014 she has been dancing with the multi-generation company, Public Displays of Motion, under the direction of Peter DiMuro.

In 2010 she started her own video production company, Linden Tree Productions, that provides video support to dancers and artists.

During the summers she works at the Bates Dance Festival as the Media Supervisor. Along with teaching at Setting the Barre Dance Academy she also teaches at Dean College and Regis College.

Paige Carney

Paige Carney is a passionate dance teacher and choreographer from the greater Boston area.  Her love of dance started at a young age where she trained for 16 years in styles such as ballet, tap, jazz, hip hop and lyrical.  Her love turned into a passion when she chose to continue her education at Dean College at the Joan Phelps Palladino School of Dance.  During her time at Dean she took courses from world renowned teachers such as William “Bill” Evans and Kristina Berger.  Taking courses about dance pedagogy, creative movement, kinesiology, dance composition and psychology lead Paige to write and publish her own book, “Dance Movement Therapy: An Organic Form of Medication”, a collection of research showing how dance can be used to treat different mental and physical abnormalities.  She graduated Dean summa cum laude with a Bachelors of Arts with a concentration in Pedagogy in 2018.  Paige is also certified in Progressing Ballet Technique and attends national dance teacher conventions regularly.  8.1..She has been teaching at Setting the Barre since 2016 and has loved every second.  Here she is a tap, ballet, modern and creative movement teacher.  She has a passion for injury prevention and instilling a love of dance in all of her students.

Kathleen Morgan

Kathleen Morgan has had 20 years of dance training in various styles. Her love for dance made her continue studying dance as a dance major with a concentration in pedagogy at Dean College with the Joan Phelps Palladino School of Dance. Kathleen has a passion for working with children, she discovered this passion as an assistant teacher from the ages of 14-18 at Lynn and Jen’s Dance studio. She is looking forward to spreading her love of dance and having fun with the students of Setting the Barre Dance Academy!

Anne Lee & Mary Ellen Woodward

Anne and Mary Ellen are our costume liaisons and front of house managers.  Together, they help coordinate all studio events and assists in ordering and organizing costumes each year.  Anne and Mary Ellen have years of experience working in the studio and their kind caring demeanor and attention to detail make them a great fit at STBDA!
